Spring Semester

Hello Everyone,

It may be the Spring Semester, but it sure don’t feel like it today. We have about 6 inches of snow here, and it is soooo cold. I am a little frustrated because tomorrow is my first class day, and of course the college is closed!!! I was ready to get this semester started!!!!  O well, it will be back in full swing soon enough.

This will be my last semester (hopefully) and I am a little sad, and excited at the same time. One part of my journey will be coming to an end, but another part will be just starting. Soooo, many changes going on in my life. This semester will be CRAZY busy, you should see our calendar. OMG!!!! My poor family will be neglected for the next 4 months!!!! We have class, clinical, precepting, online class, NCLEX prep class, NCLEX review to name a few! But, it will be worth it  come May 13th!!!! I still LOVE the nursing program, and all the instructors. It has been an amazing experience for me. I would NOT trade it for anything. I must say Northeast is a great school, and I am so lucky to have been able to attend here. You know I just turned 50 years old, and I have had been accepted and treated just like all the other students, age does not play a part in the college experience at Northeast. I am proud to be a( Non- Traditional) student!!!!

I hope as you start this new semester, you will work hard and give it all you have to make the most of your college experience. To any nursing students that read this, I would like to tell you to hang in there, work hard and set your priorities. Get yourself a couple of good NCLEX study books and do all the NCLEX style questions you can, it really helped me go from a C to a B. ( NCLEX Made Incredibly Easy ) is a really great one!!!

I have to go watch the BCS championship game. I have my Auburn socks on ( I have worn them for every game) and my husband and I are watching the game. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!  God Bless each of you! Best of Luck in all you do!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!!

Christmas time is here……yeah!!!!! I hope this finds you all doing well. By now we have all taken finals, and passed this semester! (Hopefully) and now we are getting ready for the Holidays. I am very proud to report that I made it through another semester of nursing school, and I only have ONE more semester left. Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement! Boy, I tell you I was so ready for this break!!! We ALL are struggling with burnout!  It has been difficult, but I would NOT trade this experience for anything. I love Northeast and I love all my instructors. I hope your college experience has been as good as mine!!

As you prepare for CHRISTmas, I pray you will remember the TRUE meaning of Christmas, it is the Birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ!!! It is NOT about presents or shopping or food, or the big guy in the red suit! It is a Christian celebration of our LORD!! So, please don’t concede to saying Happy Holidays, or holiday tree or merry xmas…..it is CHRISTmas. How would you like to be left out of your Birthday Celebration???

I pray you all have a wonderful, safe and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! May God send His Blessings to you and your families!!!!

Best Wishes, Terry

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Good Morning to all my fellow students and facility! It is 5:30 am on Thanksgiving morning and I am drinking coffee and getting my game plan together for today. I LOVE Thanksgiving, it is the official start to the Holiday season. As I look at my life and all that I have , there is soooo much to be thankful for this year. First and foremost I am thankful for the saving grace of my Lord and Savior, without Him I would be a disaster. Then, my husband who loves me and supports me in all that I do. He keeps me grounded and pushes me to continue when I am just at my wit’s end, (nursing school will do that to you!!) I am thankful for my family and my friends. I am thankful for NACC and the GREAT staff and instructors that have helped me so much!!! I know teaching can be a thankless job, but just know that you have done a great job in my education process!!!!!!  AND I THANK YOU!!

I am closing in on my final semester in Nursing, and i am so excited, scared, tired, and any other emotion you can think of! lololol It has been a wonderful journey so far, as a matter of fact I may just become a fulltime student! LOL I hope that your educational journey is successful and that you enjoy it. It is a GIFT to be able to get a good education, please don’t waste it!!!

As I journey through this day, I will be cooking and sharing wonderful times with my family and reflecting on what this Day is all about, I hope that you will do the same. ” In all things give Thanks” God is good All the time!!!

FROM MY HOME TO YOURS,

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Happy Fall Ya’ll

Can you believe fall is here! I am so ready for the beautiful fall weather. Cool nights and warm {not hot} days. Not only that, but mid terms are next week. Can you believe we are already half way through this semester? Wow! Time is going by so fast!

I am in Mobile at the AANS (Alabama association of Nursing Students) Convention. We are having a good time and learning a lot about the working of it on the state level. Doing some Nclex reviews, that is always my favorite part!!! Meeting lots of new people and getting free stuff.  I would encourage all nursing students to attend at least one of the conventions.

Speaking  of nursing, classes are going good, I made a B on my first exam ( cardiac is a killer!!!) And clinicals are fantastic!!!!! I am loving them, I am starting to really feel like a NURSE!!!! The stress is still sooooooo high and will be for the duration, But we will get through it!!! I am so blessed to have this opportunity to go to nursing school. You know guys, a college education is an investment in YOUR future, Please don’t take it for granted!!! Make the most of every minute. You will only get out of it what you put into it!!!!

Well’ I am off to convention, have a great day!!! let me hear from you all some time!!!    TTFN, Terry

How is it going???

Well  I guess by now school is in full swing. I know we are all very busy and working very hard. I start my clinical rotations tomorrow and I am looking forward to it! I LOVE clinical, it is my favorite part of the nursing program.  I have great instructors and I am learning so much. I am still very nervous about giving meds and shots, but it is exciting at the same time! There is just so much to learn and put into practice. Nursing is definitely not for slackers!!!! It is VERY, VERY, hard work, and you have to be dedicated to the program or you are just wasting your time!!!!

We are also getting ready to elect new officers for the National Student Nursing Association, I served as Vice President last year, so this year I am running for President. So, if you are in the NSNA I would appreciate your vote. If you’re not a member, I would encourage you to join. It is a great organization for nursing students. you can look it up on the web, for info on the organization and dues.

I hope you all have a great semester and work hard, your future is at stake!!! I will be here if you need to ask me questions or make comments. Thanks for reading….. Terry

SUMMER CLASS

Hello out there, Well here we are coming to the end of the Summer Semester. Man the time has flown by! It has been a challenging one, but a good one too. The clinical days were long (but only 6 weeks) and the RN and LPN classes separated, but all in all things were good. The LPN class has worked their behinds off getting ready to graduate. I wish them all the BEST of luck!! Clinical were rough on some, we lost a few more from the Program this summer.  But as for me I am actually starting to feel like a NURSE. My instructor has really taught me a lot and expected a lot from me. We have one more exam on Monday and then the FINAL!!!! Then HOPEFULLY…. I will be one more semester closer to my goal. I am looking forward to the future and a career.

I hope all of you are still hanging in there and doing well. I hardly ever get away from the nursing building to see anyone. But it will be worth it all… SOON!!!  Well , I had better get back to the books. Take care and God Bless! TERRY

SUMMER MIDTERM

Hi Everyone,

I guess by now we have all gotten our midterm grades. I hope you are all doing well. I am doing pretty well so far!  We just had student orientation for the Fall Nursing Class. We had a lot of fun with that, although the students were on information overload by the time it was over LOL . I have been very busy this semester with 12 hour clinical days and studying. It is going well, I am learning sooo much and doing a lot of things in clinical, I am really starting to feel like a NURSE!!!  The LPN class is working REALLY hard getting ready to graduate. They have a hectic schedule!  But I have confidence that they will do fine. If you are considering a career in nursing, do yourself a favor and ask yourself  this question…” Can I see myself doing this for the next 25 yrs?”  It is a lot, a lot,a lot of work not to be taken lightly!!!! Just be sure you  are willing to put in the time and effort. Because it is very hard, but it will be well worth it!  Well, it is back to the books for me, take care and work hard!         Later, Terry

Best of luck to you, I know how stressful it is to wait for that letter!!!

Take care and let me hear from you !!     Terry
